Bette Buna (Ethiopia, Natural)
Rooted in Taferi Kela, Bette Buna (“House of Coffee”) was founded by Dawit and Hester to build both great coffee and strong communities.
From their beginnings in Sidama, they’ve expanded to Guji Megadu - one of Ethiopia’s most remote and promising coffee regions where they partner with local chiefs and farmers to elevate quality and livelihoods.
Bette Buna does a bunch of great things all rolled into one. They train farmers to restore agroforests, boost soil health, and ensure higher pay and better coffee by picking the ripest cherry – double win.
They are also an equal-opportunity employer, providing meaningful work for people with disabilities, single parents, and marginalized families.
On top of all this: their transparency and traceability is excellent. They track everyone who is involved in the coffee’s journey – this gives us a guarantee that fair wages are paid to everyone who touches the harvest - Great job.
This lot is produced on Bette Buna’s own Guji farm, undergoing a brief anaerobic ‘kickstart’ to concentrate the sugars and sweetness for a bright vibrant cup. It was brought to us by our friends and importing partners at Falcon Specialty
We are tasting cherry, candied peaches and florals.
