La Esmeralda (Colombia, Washed)

This is our third lot from La Esmeralda this year – so nice we bought it thrice. This washed lot is a perfect morning brew tasting clean and sweet like Orange, apricot and chocolate. Ticking all the boxes.

Finca La Esmeralda perched in the hills of beautiful Buenavista in Quindio, Colombia and run by Cesar Buesaquillo. 

After producing commodity grade coffee for years, Cesar embarked in new direction with his farming.  Embracing innovative processing and cultivating rarer varietals like geisha and pink bourbon, he’s earned a reputation for coffee with next-level flavour. 

Danny visited Cesar at Buenavista in 2022 and was charmed by his showman personality and exceptional coffees – so much so he purchased that year’s crop over the cupping table. Cofinet have a big part of Cesar’s success story, advising on growing in soil specific to his farm, supporting with processing expertise and maximising the potential of his harvests.
